NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo….

So the Jolly Jokers and their Red Army won again. Congratulations. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Seriously though, the Jokers are a formidable threat at the Trivia Ninjas Team Trivia Challenge at Zaffiro’s Pizzeria and Bar each Wednesday night at 6:30.

Last night was no exception.

1. 4,375 — Jolly Jokers
2. 4,183 — Stay Trekkie My Friends
3. 3,933 — Funk Soul: the Wrath of Chaka Khan
4. 3,750 — Browncoats
5. 3,433 — Team Sting Ray
6. 2,675 — Steel Curtain
7. 2,650 — Bubba Ho Tep

How did the Jokers do it?  Consistency.  They missed only 8 of the 50 questions and picked up several 167- and 125-pointers. Plus, they knew about the fish Number 2 WAS able to secure for Dr. Evil instead of sharks with frickin’ laserbeams attached to their heads.

Okay, so you can give a polite golf clap and move on with your life now.

It Pays to Bribe Your Server

We don’t know that Manager Dan actually received any remuneration, but his help identifying the Scissor Sisters in Round 4 took “Stay Trekkie My Friends” (the most interesting trivia team in the world) from 6th place after Round 3 to second place at the end of the night.

How?

TMITTITW team members say they knew “Cherub Rock” from Smashing Pumpkins and Ella Fitzgerald’s “It’s Only a Paper Moon.”  That’s when  Manager Dan helped them with “Take Your Mama” from Scissor Sisters (He admitted afterwards it’s on his iPod. Go figure.)

With the answers “Cherub ROCK”, “It’s Only a PAPER Moon” and SCISSOR Sisters, the guys figured out our mystery audio category, “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock.”  They nailed The Flying Lizards with “Money (That’s What I Want)” and Leonard Nimoy’s version of “Ruby (Don’t Take Your Love to Town.”

Very nice. They were the only ones to get those last two songs for a cool 500 points each.

Super Ninja Second Chance Challenge Debuts

Your Ninjas were feeling pretty cocky — putting on an entire contest with Star Trek categories, but with no actual Star Trek questions.

That was until the debut of a brand new feature — the “Super Ninja Second Chance Challenge.”

How does it work?

Well, if your team didn’t win that night’s contest, your team’s name goes into a drawing. And if your team’s name is drawn, you get one minute to answer a special question. If you’re right — yay — you win.  If you don’t — the gift card stays with us for another week.

Wouldn’t you know it?  “Funk Soul: the Wrath of Chaka Khan” — the team that changes it’s name each week — brought in a Star Trek ringer who nailed the Super Ninja with time to spare.

The question?

Q. She played “Number One” in the Star Trek pilot called “The Cage.” But she’s also the only actor to have acting credits in all five of the Star Trek TV series. Name this actress AND give us the three other roles she played in those series.

A. Majel Barrett (the late Mrs. Gene Roddenberry) played:
— voice of the computer (all of the series)
— Nurse Christine Chapel (original series)
— Lwaxana Troi (Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine)

Majel died in 2009, two weeks after cutting voice-overs for 2009’s J.J. Abrams “Star Trek” reboot.

We had a great time last night and hope you did, too. If you want to play, join us Wednesday nights from 6:30 to around 8:30 at Zaffiro’s Pizzeria and Bar in the Marcus Parkwood 17 movie complex.

See you Wednesday. And remember to follow our Facebook page and visit us here at TriviaNinjas.com for a Freebie Question next Wednesday.
